Hickman Holiday Herald 2000

Hickman Holiday Herald December 2000
Wasn't it just the day before yesterday that the world was worrying about Y2K and all the horrible things it was going to do? 2000 is almost over and The Hickmans are still writing 1999 on checks...
JR went home for a few weeks in January and the family headed up to Koh Samui, a small island on the east coast of Thailand.

Great resort and the perfect location for everyone to unwind.
Between school, work at Disneyland and an active social life JR has a pretty full calendar. This year he moved from the dorms at CSULB to a house in Anaheim that is shared with 3 other guys. JR also became a lead at Disneyland and is getting his first taste of managing employees.

Alexis probably was the busiest of the Hickmans.
Last summer saw Alexis and Gerri completing numerous "road-trips" around California to visit prospective university campuses. As of this writing Alexis has applied to all her preferred choices and will be spending the holidays anticipating her acceptances. Alexis is enjoying a wide variety of activities during her senior year. On the student government scene she is ably leading her class as Senior Class President. In athletics she competed on varsity volleyball which included a regional tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is currently on the varsity swim team. Several Advanced Placement courses, 4th year of Mandarin and participating in an independent study course called Photographic Journalism pretty well fills in her free time. Alexis is one busy woman!

Gerri enjoyed having her sister Kathy visit this past summer. They had a chance to tour and shop their way through Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore. They had plans to do more but Joe changed the schedule drastically when he broke his ankle on the golf course on 25 July. He spent a week in the hospital, 4 weeks in bed and 3 months on crutches and a cane... He was not a happy camper! Joe changed jobs mid-year and is now Vice President/Area Director Asia Pacific for Hospitality Marketing Concepts. Joe enjoys the new challenge. wishes for this holiday season and hope to see you in the new year!
